I am in serach of the following families that were in Savannah, Georgia between 1880-1940. My great grandfather was Frank WALLASTON Sr. (born in GA ca1882) who was married to ELLA (JACOBS) HEBERER (born in Illinois ca1883).
They moved from St. Louis, Missouri to Savannah between 1926-1930. They came with their 4 children, Homer George "Buster" HEBERER, Edward Virgil "Chick" HEBERER, Thelma HEBERER and Frank WALLASTON, Jr.
Ella and Frank Sr. separated a short time after they arrived in Savannah and apparently Frank Sr. then abandoned the family. Ella got a job at a boarding house in Savannah (a "one night stand" kind of place) and once she made enough money she took Thelma and Frank Jr. back to St. Louis. Homer and Virgil HEBERER had boarded freighters to New York out of Savannah and then hitchhiked back to St. Louis.
If any of this family is familiar to anyone, or if anyone has any search suggestions on how I can obtain some Savannah records that might lead me to Frank WALLASTON Sr.'s family, I would greatly appreciate it, since I am at a dead end. Thanks for whatever you can do!
