PICKREN - BURGESS

Paula Pickren Smith Fri Jul 7 21:04:25 2000
My great grandfather's sister was named Cealey Catherine PICKREN, born abt. 1859 in Telfair Co., Ga. She 1/m. Capt. John CRAVEY on 10 Feb. 1879 in Telfair Co., and he died in 1885. She 2/m. A. B. MATTHEWS on 11 Dec. 1887 and then 3/m. Charles BURGESS on 5 Aug. 1900. None of the present family members know what happened to her or when she died. Just recently I found out that one family genealogist recorded that she died near Savannah, Ga. So, I'm wondering if there is someone kind enough to check for a gravesite and info. if a cemetery book is available for Chatham Co. If not, does anyone have any suggestions for my finding out about her? What other counties might I check since "near Savannah" could mean several things? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Paula

Searching for information on my Grandfather, James Cuyler WILLIAMS. James was inducted into the army in Sept. of 1918 and honorably discharged in Dec. 1918. According to a 1918 W.W.I. military file, James was been born in Savannah, Ga. on 9/9/1896. By 1918, his father ,name believed to be "John", is listed as deceased. His mother "Anna" maiden name "CUYLER", is listed as being murdered. Two male siblings names unknown, died in infancy. One sister, name unknown, listed as deceased. One sister "Naomi Ruth" still living. After the death of their parents, James and his sister Naomi lived with an aunt Susie SINGLETON and her husband Henry, at 2004 Harden St. Savannah, Ga. Susie is believed to be the sister of Anna CUYLER. 1900 Ga. Census records shows a Susie A. CUYLER attending Atlanta University in Fulton Co.
I am trying to:
1. Confirm the names of James' and Naomi's Mother and father.
2. Confirm that Susie A. CUYLER is the same person as Susie SINGLETON - ages match through the 1900-1920 census.

Henry was supposedly Herbert's (Burt's) uncle on his mother's side, but he was not listed in the Liverpool census of 1881, or 1851 as one of her siblings. So maybe he was a great-uncle or an elder 2nd cousin. Edward GREEN of Liverpool was a plasterer, and was the grandfather of my ggrandmother was Louisa Ann GREEN ELLISON. Burt also lived in Savannah with his wife Annie Mae HARVEY who died in 1918, and their three baby daughters, until shortly after 1918, when he moved to Asheville, NC.

GRAY - MONGIN

Harriett Ogilvie Fri Sep 29 09:24:16 2000
My information leads me to believe that Martha GRAY was originally from the Savannah area. I believe her maiden name to be MONGIN but have not found documentation for that only the info from other researchers. She moved from Camden County back to Savannah in late 1849 or early 1850. She resided on Cumberland Island before her husband's death in Nov. 1849. She appeared on the Chatham Census with her unmarried children in 1850 and was in the household with her daughter and her husband Andrew POLLARD in 1860. I cannot located her after 1860 (age 64). Would appreciate any info about death/cemetery records.
