I am looking for any information on these two families during the 1830's until 1900...possible plantation names were Rosewood and Bright Stakes. They both lived about 10 miles south of Savannah. Both families had connection to the Confederacy, possibly when Sherman's troops marched through.

I am trying to locate information on my great-grandfather, John R. STOFER Sr. I had heard that he was a circuit court judge in Savannah. The only other information that I have is that he had something to do with Farmers Exchange Bank (at the time Wall Street crashed) and was also a family friend to Govenor Talmadge. Lastly he may have owned a plantation or two in or around Savannah. I do not know his date of birth or date of death.
Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Sincerely, Jackie Stofer Wymer
