My GGGGGrandmother Agnes SCOTT was born July 24, 1768, in Georgia and married Phillip HINOTE (other phonetic spellings possible) in Georgia in 1786. Phillip allegedly was born in Bucks Co., PA, but came to GA and enlisted in the Revolution (Georgia State Troops) in Richmond Co., GA, and served in the defense of Savannah. His brother was Henry who married Sarah UPTON and also came to Georgia. The birth and marriage of Agnes to Phillip are variously reported to have occurred in Chatham, Richmond, and Wilkes Cos., GA. I am seeking any information on either Agnes or Phillip and particularly on the forebears of Agnes or of any SCOTT families that were in Georgia prior to the Revolutionary, especially the SCOTT family that was among the first 116 Oglethorpe immigrant families to Savannah.

I am searching for any information for Alexander Eugene BRYAN, my ggrandfather. He was born in GA, date unknown, and married Mattie OWENS in 1893. Mattie and Alexander had one child, my grandfather, William BRYAN, before they both passed away at a very young age of unknown cause/s. Family history indicates that Alexander was an M. D. and owned large amounts of land. It is believed that he was a decendant of the English BRYAN family who helped to settle Savannah with Oglethorpe. I have not been able to prove this. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

They came after the 1881 census and left the US before the next. She was probably born in Chatham County, she had a sister Hannah also born in Georgia, two years later. I have been searching for my grandfather's father and mother. I believe the g-grandfather's name was Alexander DOUGHERTY. I don't know for sure. Also believe his wife was Willie (COWHORN). Was her original lastname. Changing later upon entering school to COWRON / COHRON. Again I have not found information to confirm. However my grandfather was Douglas Algar DOUGHERTY born in Savannah, Georgia in 1898 and his social security indicates these names as his parents. Alas I can't find any information on these people. We are looking for our Indian heritage and what Indian descent we came from. This has been a 10 year effort and we are almost out of hope. Please see if you can find marriage information, or land ownership or anything relating to Willie "COWHORN" (COHRON) and/or Alexander DOUGHERTY. Other locations or search ideas you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Lisa A. Yankee - great great grandaughter.
