MAY - EVANS

Susan Wood Sun Apr 11 14:05:39 2004
I would like to correct the date in a previous post. My great great grandparents, John A. MAY and Sarah Jane EVANS married in Coweta county on November 26, 1851. Now I have seen the original record. Does anyone have a MAY family with a son, John A. MAY, called Jack? The marriage record is the only record I have and family stories have him as dying about 1856. I can't find him in the 1850 census.
Help!!

Robin Stevens Sat Apr 24 20:36:23 2004
I am searching for any information that I can find on my Grandfather. His name is Arthur William MORRIS and he married Naomi Ruth BOYNTON, April 14,1945 in Coweta County. Arthur MORRIS' parents were from Coweta County and their names were Thedore W MORRIS and Myrtle MORRIS. Ruth BOYNTON's parents were John Thomas BOYNTON and Julia PARKS.

BALLARD

Ruby Thu May 13 07:46:42 2004
Would like to find more information on Matthew C. BALLARD and especially wife, Tommie G. --?-- of Newnan, Georgia. He was born 03 Aug 1905 in Newnan, son of Oliver Levi BALLARD and Lennie HUGHES (daughter of Rufus HUGHES and Henrietta "Hennie" --?-- (who?). He appears in his father's household in 1910 and 1920, on US Censuses, in Newnan.

In 1930, he and his wife, Tommie G., appear in Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co., North Carolina, where he lived the rest of his life and died there 12 Feb 1969. According to the 1930 Census, Tommie G. was born abt 1908-1909 in Georgia, Their son, Matthew BALLARD, Jr. was listed as being born in Georgia in 1927-1928, so it is probable they were married in Georgia before they moved to North Carolina. We are searching for her maiden name (and her mother's maiden name), and date of their marriage (hopefully, with county volume, page number, and name of official for that marriage)and any other information about this family. Also, Matthew had a sister, Elizabeth Henrietta BALLARD, b. 24 Aug 1909 in Newnan. She married James Plummer COURTNEY bef. 1928, apparently in Charlotte, North Carolina, and had a daughter. Lennie Ellen COURTNEY born in 1928 in Charlotte. These are the only 2 children of Oliver Levi BALLARD and Lennie HUGHES we know about. Any Information on Oliver and/or Lennie, (who were of Coweta County at least as early as 21 Dec 1898, when they were married there), would be welcomed also. Thank You.

Since his mother , Penelope (MOORE) STRICKLAND, was widowed at a young age, I was wondering if she might have married again to this Mr. LITTLE. It was shown in Noonan, Coweta, Ga.

ANDERSON

Can someone explain to me the 1827 land lottery? My gggrandfather showed up in Coweta by 1837 but I think he was a fortunate drawer for lottery in Lee Co while he resided in DeKalb--several of his sibs were also in Coweta at the time...so what does it mean that he got something in Lee Co--could he have traded it for land in Coweta and how do I find out--is there a reference--i just do not understand the index.
