STORY / STOREY - KILLIAN

Sandy Dodson Tomlin Mon May 9 07:25:10 2005
Trying to find any info on the STORY (STOREY) families from Coweta County. My Great Grandfather was John T STORY born in Coweta County. His father was Billie (William) STORY (STOREY).

John T STORY later moved to Carroll County and married Lou Doxie KILLIAN. Any info on the STORY familes from the late 1700 to late 1800 would be deeply appreciated. Been told that the STORY family was Indian but guess that's folklore in most families. THANKS !!!

I need a couthouse look-up for Arthur WEBB who was found guily in Carroll Co of shooting at someone. The papers I have from Carroll Co. A motion for a new trial to be moved to Newnan GA Nov 22, 1909. I do not know if the new trial was granted. Arthur was sentenced to 6 mo on a chain gang in Carroll Co. If anyone can help me by checking the Newnan records I would be most grateful. Also, does anyone know if these jail records if he did indeed serve the 6 months would still exist?
Thank you in advance
Mary

HILL - CALHOUN - CALLAWAY

Al Hill Sun Jun 5 21:47:43 2005
I was just rereading some of my Newnan and Warm Springs information on my HILL family in the area. My great-grandfather, Dr. Henry Willis HILL, studied with Dr. CALHOUN before going north to medical school, then serving as a Confederate surgeon from Granada, MS, (where his parents had moved while he studied in Virginia, Tennessee, and New York). "Doc" HILL, as we called him to distinguish him from his son, Dr. James Abram HILL, was a cousin (1st?) of John M. HILL, who married Dr. CALHOUN's daughter Susan..

Of course, I want any information I can get, but right now I'm most interested in a good color picture of the Calhoun/Hill house in Newnan and the Hill/Callaway house that stands at the end of the airport runway outside Warm Springs.

I understand that a Newnan newspaper reporter took a good color picture of the CALHOUN house shortly before it burned, but so far I haven't located a copy.

I was told by Dr. Henry Willis HILL of somewhere out near Alpharetta that the Warm Springs house was once owned by Abraham & Clarissa (CALLAWAY) HILL.

Just this morning, I found a couple of obituaries in The Meriwether County Vindicator, listing Lena and Henry as deceased children of "Hon. H. W. and Mrs. Lena HILL." The two children died in 1893 and 1895, respectively -- apparently somewhere around Warm Springs. I'm uncertain whether this is my H. W. HILL, or yet another H. W. HILL that I hadn't found before.

Any help for me on information or on a picture of one or both houses? I'll be glad to reciprocate in any way I can.
Sincerely,
Al Hill
