I am trying to find more information on STEPHEN ALFRED BULLARD, who was born Dec. 28,1824 in Stewart Co. Georgia. He married AMANDA MELVINA SPENCE on Oct. 29, 1848 in Stewart Co. She was born in 1830/1831. Stephen died July 6, 1862, probably in Newnan, Coweta Co., Georgia. I would like to find out for sure where he did die. The story that my great-grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Bullard Whitttenton, told is this. She was an 8 year old girl when her dad, Stephen Bullard died. He was teaching some Civil War soldiers about trains. Stephen was standing between 2 boxcars while telling them about the dangers of standing between the train cars, when the train suddenly jerked, and Stephen was crushed. He was still alive when he was carried to his house, but bleeding so badly, that they laid him on the porch instead of taking him in the house. There, Mary Elizabeth watched her dad bleed to death. I do not know if Stephen was a soldier, or just a civilian training the soldiers. I'd like ! to hear from others who have also heard this story, or know more about where Stephen did die, and was buried. His widow, Amanda Bullard, and several children, including Mary Elizabeth, who married Marion Whittenton, later moved to Hamilton Co., Texas, where they are buried. Please contact me if you have some information. Thank you.

WILKINSON

Barbara Wilkinson Thu Jun 25 11:13:42 1998
I am researching the family of Henry Q. WILKINSON. In 1870 census listing is Henry Q. age 29, wife Mary E. , age 27 and children Ida M. age 3, Mary D. age 1. Listed on Page 216 in this census. All born in GA and parents born in GA. It is possible he is the father of Henry Q WILKINSON, born 1872. The family is listed on the 5th District of Coweta. Any information as to the children of this family is very much needed. I did not find the listing for 1880 but records are very difficult to read and they could have still been in Coweta. The farm land was "valued" at $10,000.00 somewhat more than neighboring listings. It could have been a considerable farm. Henry Q WILKINSON, born 1872 married Mary Ada Vails probably in OK but could have been in GA. We believe he is from this family.
