I have been trying to find out John C's mother and father's names and also did he have any bothers and sisters? He was born in 1807-1813 in either NC or SC. Census records disagree. She was with Jeremiah & Jane/Jessy Jane Sheppard there in 1860-1870.She always told my Dad she was "Black Dutch,Irish,Indian". I am researching Abner SMITH, d. 1829 Coweta Co., GA, he came from Ireland, to S.C. and fought in the Am. Rev., by 1827 he was residing in Jasper Co., GA, and received a pension as a Am. Rev. soldier in Coweta Co., before his death. In his will dated 12-15-1829, he named children: John B., Elizabeth, Polley, Sally, Winey, Susanna, Eliza, and Moses SMITH.

Researching for parents of a John Walter Atchison of Coweta Co. who married Sarah A. Smith Oct 28, 1866. Children of that marriage:Emma b. 1868, James R. b. 1870, Lee William b. 1873, Susan A. b. 1875, Dora L. b. ?, and Charles Walter b. Oct 18, 1878 and married Elizabeth Emily SHANNON, dft of Joseph Asbury SHANNON, prob. also of Coweta Co. Children of that marriage; Ernest Hugh, b 1900, Georgia Clyde b. 1902, Joe John b. 1904, *Lettie Nona b. Oct 18, 1906 Moreland, Coweta Co., and 2 that died young traveling on highway jobs through FL, AL, MS, and retiring in LA.(Vernon and Beauregard Parishes).
Ancestors of the Shannons, Smiths, and Atchisons are much needed to continue research.
