BLEDSOE

He had 1 son that we know of; Bailey Farmer BLEDSOE II, born in Carrollton in 1854, who is my Great-Grandfather. We recently found out that William H. BLEDSOE died in the Civil War, at Fort Johnson, VA in January of 1862, while serving with Company 'G', 19th Georgia Infantry. He was 31 years old when he died, and his son Bailey was only about 8 years old. What we don't know is the name of William H.'s wife, whether she was alive at the time of his death or had died before him, as she not apply for his military pension. We also don't know where he was buried, in Georgia or Virginia, where he died. Any information about him would be greatly appreciated...he's been kind of a "mystery man" in our family tree!

BROOKS - HAM

Sybil Hamm Taylor Sun Nov 30 10:52:19 1997
SARAH BROOKS researchers can help me!
My 3rd great grandfather Thomas HAM b. in Cheraw Disr S.C. ca 1770 married Anna ??? and in 1845 lived in Lauderdale Co., Ala when he made a deed of gift to his wife Anna as follows:
"Whereas Sarah BROOKS late of Coweta County in the state of Georgia did on the 10th/ October 1839 convey by bill of sale to my wife Anna a certain Negro boy named Frank then upwards of three? years of age which conveyance was intended and understood to be a deed of gift from sd. Sarah Brooks to my sd. wife Anna and the heirs of her body; and whereas it appears that, the intention of said Sarah was not legally expossed?, in said bill of sale, and that complete title would and has vested in me to said Negro boy; (it goes on to give back to Anna and Heirs the legal title to the Negro named Frank).
I would like copies of this Instument "bill of sale or deed of gift" dated 10th? Oct. 1839 or 37 and a copy of the Will of Sarah Brooks, 1847 Coweta Co. Will Book A, page 190. I do not now know Anna's last name or the relationship of Sarah and Anna which would justify a gift of a valuable slave. I'll pay copy costs and postage and even a reasonable finders fee for this Information.
