I am trying to locate Anne Wise, who's 15 May 1998 Coweta County GEN WEB query addressed Wiley Jones Bridges, born circa 1779, son of Nathaniel Bridges and Ritter Simms. Wiley Jones Bridges married Jane Strickland, circa 1800.
Wiley Jones Bridges and his family were amongst the first settlers in Coweta County. Several of his sons participated in the Creek War. The AOL address shown in Ms. Wise's query is no longer valid.
In addition to the above, I have particular interest in Solomon T. Bridges, I believe a son of the aforesaid Wiley Jones Bridges. Solomon T. Bridges married Serena A. May, a daughter of my g-g-g-grandfather, Drury May, of Fayette County. Also, Solomon's brother Ancel Bridges married Hulda Westmoreland, another kin, and Thomas W. Bridges, another brother, married Elizabeth Moses, a step-kin. Finally, Mary Bridges, a sister to Solomon, Ancel and Thomas Bridges, married James E. May, another of Drury May's sons.
So, as you can see, it is a "close knit" family, and I have several important links of interest to Wiley Jones Bridges. I would be willing to share information on any of the above. Also, a number of other later Bridges descendants married folks in my May, Moses and Jennings lines in both Coweta and Fayette Counties. I would like to share information on any of these as well.
I would especially like to contact Ms. Wise to share information.

My parents live near Sharpsburg and there is an old family cemetary behind their home. The family is named Stong and the headstones refer to Sara Strong (age 75 years), Isham S. Strong (age 31 years, apparently died in the Civil War), James Madison Strong (Born 6/29/1829 died 10/14/1862 Civil War), William E. Strong (Born 6/27/1804 Died 10/28/1850). The cemetary was apparently hit by a tornado about 15-20 years ago and it is in bad shape. There are other headstones but they are not readable. They seem to have been a somewhat wealthy family based on the ornate headstones. I'd appreciate any information you could give me! Thanks in advance.

Alvin Carter PRIDGEN was born 9 Oct 1838 Coweta Co., Ga., according to his Confederate pension records and 30 Nov. 1838, Ga., according to his tombstone records. He married Eliza GILLILAND (1841-1913), in Clarke Co., Ga. They remained in Clarke Co., and according to Larry PARR a descendant of Alvin's sister Martha Jane BLAIR, Eliza Gilliland PRIDGEON's father was the inventor of the famous double barrel cannon. This cannon was to destroy the Yankees, because it was supposed to shoot two cannon balls out at the same time with a chain connecting them. "It was to mow all the Yankees down." The first time it was fired they could not get the balls to go at the same time. It knocked down a barn and killed a cow. The next time it was used, was when the Yankees were ready to come into Clarke Co. They filled it with nails and other metal debris and it scared the Yankees off. After that it was put on the area around Athen's city hall where it remains in 1997. Alvin joined the Confederate army in New Orleans, La., and fought at Appomattox. When he filed for his pension, he was survived by two boys and two girls, plus his wife.
Alvin and Eliza four children are buried in Boggs Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery: Ablin C., Annie, Alma and Clovis L. PRIDGEON. Alvin died 30 March 1903, and Eliza died 14 Jan. 1913. They are buried in Boggs Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

I understand the young couple removed to Texas.
