FERRILL

Ed Ferrill McKee Sat May 14 16:40:54 2005
I am searching for any records for William FERRILL, b1736, died 1807 in Hancock County. Child: Benjamin FERRILL, b 1769, Screven County Ga, d 1836 MS.

I am aware that census records are not available for 1890 or 1900.

He is definitely believed to have been a devout member of the Methodist Church; his son Bryant, who was born in North Carolina, gave his son the name, "John Wesley FERRILL" after John Wesley, founder of Methodist Denomination. I wonder whether any church records go back that far? I have been able trace a direct line from William to myself: William, Bryant, John Wesley, Wesley Francis, Cammie Inez (FERRILL) McKEE (my mother). I have been able to find gravestones for all of them except for William. I would like to acquire a digital photograph of William's gravestone, if possible, for a web site I am designing.
Thanks very much
Edward FERRILL McKee

MITCHELL - LIGON

Sherrie Johnson Thu Aug 25 11:50:06 2005
Looking for any info on Robert MITCHELL on the 1830 census. Another record indicates a will for Robert MITCHELL in 1839. Our gggrandfather, Jefferson C. MITCHELL b. 1835, appears first on the 1850 Hancock census with his mother, Jane MITCHELL. He could also be the male child listed with Jane in the 1840 census, but no father in the household at this time. Robert MITCHELL and Henry MITCHELL on the 1830 census have females 20-30 in their households who could have been Jane.

I found a marriage record for a Robert MITCHELL and Jane LIGON in 1831, but it was in Hall County, GA - could these be the same?

I don't know where Linton originated from. I think he was born in Hancock Co. Mary was born in Hancock Co. around 1876, give or take a couple of years.
