QRYTEXT: As a descendent of the Isaac HILL, Sr. line, (grandfather of Sen. Benjamin Harvey Hill), I visited LaGrange and Long Cane last year to research additional family information. I visited the John J. HILL (father of Sen. Benj. H. Hill) house which is still in use in Long Cane. The family living there was gracious enough to let me tour the old two story home and to go onto the side property to look at the old family plot where eleven family members are buried. The area is badly overgrown and the graves are in serious states of disrepair. I was only able to identify six of the eleven graves; John J. Hill, 1785-1848, his wife, Sara Parham, 1790-1854, a 2.5 yr. old child, John Thomas Hill, 1854-1857, Mary Ann Hill Webb Tucker, sister of John J. Hill, d. 1851 in her 86th yr., Martha R. Hill Potts, daughter of John J. Hill, wife of James Monroe Potts, 1830-1854, Fauntleroy Todd Reed, 1865-1926, husband of Minnie Lee Hill, granddaughter of John J. Hill.
Does anyone know who the other five family members are who are buried there? And does anyone know who the parents of the 2.5 yr. old boy were?
And does anyone know the first names of the two husbands of Mary Ann? (Mr. Webb and Mr. Tucker) I am hoping by posting here that some of the
descendents of the other surnames in Troup County might have some of the information I seek. Thank you.
