Looking for Henry N. COOK died in 1919 in Chattanooga, TN, buried Warren Station, Ga. Henry lived in Lookout Mt. prior to his death, left wife and 6 children. I am looking for any information on the BUTCHER family in Walker Co. GA. I have many family stories, but few documents. More specifically, I am trying to link James F. BUTCHER, in the 1850 Walker Co. census, to Edward F. BUTCHER in the 1870 Walker Co. census. Edward was counted with the George W. ELLIS family in the 1870 census. My gggrandfather was a MATHIS. He died in LaFayette around 1888/89. He lived in McClemore's Cove and had the blue print of LaFayette for wallpaper. His grandsons were Baptist preachers in Walker Co. His daughter, Louise Emaline MATHIS married Alexander Scott MATHIS, her cousin in 1881. Louise was born in Sequatchie Valley in 1854. Her death certificate doesn't show her parent's name. Is there a listing for deaths in Walker Co. during 1888/89. Until I find out this man's first name I can't go any further back. Please email me with any info or suggestions. On the 1870 and 1880 census her names appears to be Mary A. or Margy A. and she was born about 1851. One of her daughters' death certificates, however, gives her name as Elizabeth WARREN. GA in 1860 until death in 1899. His son James P. WILLIAMS, b. 18 Jan 1848 in TN, married Eliza Ann KILGORE, 19 Jan 1871 in GA, d. 12 Feb 1918. She is the daughter of Isaac and Susannah ??? KILGORE. They are on Walker Co. GA census in 1860 and 1870. Tinsley WILLIAMS is my gggrandfather. I have heard that his father was Alan WILLIAMS(?) from NC but have no documentation to prove this. I am trying to find information on Isaac GIDDENS. I am posting this to Walker County because he apparently lived in Ringgold, Georgia but at the time Catoosa County had not been formed yet. Isaac was apparently killed by a Joshua Ramey, who I understand was the Executioner of Walker County in 1849. Isaac (or Issac) had 4 children:
1. Mary Abigail GIDDENS, b. 16 Apr 1847 in Ringgold, d. 24 Feb 1902 in Fort Scott, Kansas. She married William Fletcher YOUNG on 26 May 1865 in Chattanooga, TN.;
2. William Trion GIDDENS, b. 11 Feb 1849 GA, d. 7 Sep 1902 location unknown. He married Harriett Octava MORELAND.
3. Randolph GIDDENS, know nothing about him
4. Priscilla GIDDENS, have nothing concrete on her.
If anyone out there knows anything about this Isaac (there are apparently a few Isaac GIDDENS) or any of the other people mentioned above, please let me know. -- Gerrie

I am researching my grandfather Thompson VANN, b. 1883 possibly in Walker County. Thompson is the son of John VANN. In 1900 Tennessee census Thompson is 16 years old, working as a farm laborer and living in James County, now Hamilton. He probably left home early because of too many mouths to feed. Possible brothers and sisters might have the names of Mary Lee, Frances Elizabeth or Lewis. I am particularly interested in the time frome of the 1900 and 1890 census.
