I would like to contact anyone researching the family of John Andrew COOK. He and his wife Annie L. and their children, Gladis, age 13; Ruth, age 11; Homer, age 8; Dessie, age 6 and Pauline, age 3-11/12 are found on the 1920 census in the LaFayette District, town of Lynwood on Probasso Street. John Andrew was my grandmother;s (Lizzie Belle COOK GALLOWAY) cousin. He was known as "Cousin Andrew". He was the son of Richard Isaac COOK. Richard had moved to TX sometime after 1900. Lizzie Belle's father was George COOK. Both were sons of Richard and Sarah LAND COOK of Pickens Co., GA.

Looking for information on my great grandparents, Moses Ervin BOYD and Millie
Jane MITCHELL. Their second child was b. in Walker Co. GA in 1868. Millie Jane
MITCHELL was b. in Forsyth Co. GA in 1849. They were m. in Forsyth Co. GA in 1865.
According to census records, Moses Ervin BOYD, was b. in SC in ca. 1849. He served
in Co. F, 28th Regiment, GA Infantry during Civil War. Have no info on what county(ies)
he may have lived in prior to marrying in Forsyth Co. Four of their children were
b. in GA in Forsyth, Walker, Whitfield and Catoosa Counties. Then they moved to
TX. Census records in TX show Millie Jane MITCHELL's father was b. in NC and her
mother in TN. Need the names of their parents. Would love to hear from anyone
having any info on these families.

My ggrandfather, Thomas William Powell, joined Company I, 63rd GA Inf. Reg. on
23 Dec 1862 in Bartow Co., GA. According to the family he was b. in 1839 in Walker
Co., GA; but a check of the 1840 Census does not show a Powell family with a male
under 5 years. After the war he preached at churches in Clinch, Coffee, & Berrien
Counties approx. 1868 to 1870. In 1870 he went back to NW GA and m. Mary A.T.
Whitlow, daughter of Miles Whitlow in Walker Co., GA. He stayed in NW GA for several
years, I presume he was preaching, but have not located any church records for
him. He belonged to the Coosa Bapt. Assn. 1870-1875. He returned to South GA.
in 1874 and preached mostly in Berrien Co. where he d. in 1887. Any information
on him would be appreciated.

My ggrandfather Calvin Jones ANDREWS was b. in 1840 in Orange Co., NC. Soon after
that his father, Willaim Andrews, came to Walker Co. Calvin had 13 brothers and
sisters, and the ANDREWS family is well represented in Sartain's history of Walker
Co., GA. My query is a bit different from the normal one. Calvin was in the 3rd
Confederate Cavalry through most of the War. However, at various times he also
fought under the command of Captain GATEWOOD, a local confederate partisan guerilla
in the area. I have not found much information of Gatewood or his outfit. The
only information I have discovered has been in Sartain's history and Sartain obviously
was not a fan of Gatewood. Any information available on Gatewood's guerilla outfit
would be appreciated. Also, I would appreciate it if any descendants of GATEWOOD
or the descendant's of any member of GATEWOOD'S merry band of guerillas would
get in touch with me. Calvin and most of his family, including his father left
GA soon after the end of the War, and moved to Sharp Co., AR. By the way, Calvin's
older brother, Alexander Andrews, remained in Walker Co. after the War, and his
family is still well represented in the Co.

Anyone with information would be helpful. Hattie was supposedly a full blooded cherokee whose father was a chief at one time.
