While researching my family roots, I have accessed the 1900 US census, which lists my great grandfather, Albert OHM, and his family as living in "Garfield" township or division of Richland county. I can find no Garfield township listed elsewhere, and am curious if it was an area that may have had it's name changed. While researching the 1920 census, I find no such township. I believe my great grandparents farmed somewhere near Barney, but have to locate their names in the 1920 census. Any help is greatly appreciated.
thank you Paul J. Ohm

2. Where does a person find a marriage certificate for 1871 for Eli JARVIS and Ermine JARVIS?

I am trying to locate and find information about my grandmother's mother. Gunhild HAGEN was born in Ft. Abercrombie, ND on April 13, 1890. Her Grandfather was Gens HAGEN and her father was Halvor HAGEN.
They had come to ND from Trondheim, Norway, around 1843. Gunild's mother died when she was about 2 years old, around 1892. She was raised by Ole and Marie(Mary) SATER or SATHER, as their adopted daughter, in Abercrombie. Her father had remarried (Amy WOODS) and they had three children, Allen, Horace and Naomi. We think that Gunhild HAGEN's mother's name was Caroline LARSON or LARSEN. She married Halvor HAGEN around 1887 in Richland County, ND. I want to find out about Gunhild's mother's family.

I have found the 1920 census records with Charles KEPHART & his family, including his mother, Letticia KEPHART, living in Grant twp. Could someone up there search for her husband's (Alfred KEPHART) burial in one of the township cemeteries? We have them living in Monroe County Ia up to 1912, but by the 1915 census, they have disappeared from Iowa. We have just recently found Letticia as a widow, living with son Charles and family. At this point we can only assume that Alfred KEPHART is buried in your area. Could/Would some kind soul help us out by searching thru your county cemetery records for him?
Thank you very much. - Shirley Fitchett

Theodore and Julia BIRNBAUM are found on the 1900 and 1910 Richland County census. Julia is my great uncle, Matt MAUER, godmother. Matt and his sister, Maggie, were living with the BIRNBAUM's on census day, June, 1900. The census shows that Matt and Maggie are the niece and nephew of the BIRNBAUMs. Matt and Maggie's mother, Rosa Digula (Digulla?) died sometime between 1896 and 1900. My guess is that she was a sister to Julia BIRNBAUM. The BIRNBAUMs had children--John, Michael, Theodore, Joseph, Mathilda and Clara. Any information concerning the BIRNBAUM family, especially Julia, would be most appreciated!

I seek information on ways to find Ingeberg, maiden name of BROWN (possibily originally spelled BRONSON, probably born in Norway in 1850's. I do not know her married name. She lived in Wahpeton between 1885 and 1910 and had at least one son who may have moved to Bellingham, WA after 1900. She may have been married in North Dakota but possibly in Minnesota. She had a sister Betty Brown who married John MASTERS in Minnesota and who lived in Little Falls, Morrison County Minnesota but moved to Orange County, California by 1900. I have several photographs of Ingeberg and her children dating from 1880-1910 simply labeled with the name Ingeberg and the name of the photographer in Wahpeton. I appreciate any assistance in tracing Ingeborg, including sharing photographs for identification purposes.

I am trying to find the burial place of my GGrandfather Peter VICK (may be listed as Hans Peter VICK). My uncle told me he is buried in Richland County in a cemetary next to a (Lutheran ?) church that burned down and was not rebuilt. My GGrandfather and family are shown in the 1900 Census in Garfield Township, Richland County. He died in July, 1908. ND does not have a death certificate for him.
Also, I found my GGrandfather Peter VICK and family in the 1900 Census here at this website, but the photocopy, 140-01b.gif is not complete. It cuts off the lower part of the page right in the middle of the family. Is there a way I can get a photocopy of that page, so I could see all nine members of the family?

I am desperately trying to find someone in your county who would be willing to do me a big favor. I am looking for my Gt Grandfather Alfred KEPHART. In 1912, we found him and his wife Letticia living in Monroe County, Iowa. In the 1920 Richland County census, we find Letticia living, as a widow, with son Charles, Jr. and family. We're pretty certain that they had no money for a gravestone so that finding anything in a cemetery record will be next to impossible. As a last resort, I would like to know if he is listed in the county death records from the Court House. Wen have exhausted all other search areas. Please, won't someone there help me out. However, the 1920 census shows his wife, Emma, as head of household.
