Am researching lives of my great-grandparents, John Peter and Louise Zakrine MATHISON (spelling often varies). They are in Richland County census (ImageFile# 056-09, starting at line 16) for 1880, may have come there as early as 1869. Have recently heard a lot about "Richland County History" but unable to get a copy via inter-library loan. Could someone check to see if my grandparents are in the index? Even if not, does this book contain any useful information about that time period, such as why people came there, how they might have lived, etc. In any event, are copies of this book available for sale anywhere?

Anyone with information feel free to e-mail me. Thanks.

Looking for info on Louis Peter CHRISTENSEN, born Denmark 1862/3. He came to the US in Nov 1882 and homesteaded in 1885 in Section 23, Greendale Township, Richland Co. He married Andrea CHRISTENSEN (Nee LARSEN) about 1904. Andrea had 2 sons, Ernst born 1901 and Martin born 1903, by previous marraige to a Ludvig CHRISTENSEN. Ludvig, Andrea and Ernst came to the US (Minneapolis/St Paul) in 1902. Louis and Andrea had 5 children together...Otto b1905, Carrie b1907, Ellen b1909, Ewald (Ed) b1911 and Levi (Norman) b1913. The family returned in 1909 from a visit to Andrea's home in Rendbæk, Hjørring, Denmark. Louis died 1915 and Andrea died in 1919. Shortly following Ernst's death in 1922, the youngest of the remaining children went into foster homes and the older ones abandoned the homestead and scattered to the 4 winds. Need help in finding info on this family such as marraige, death and birth records, obituaries newspaper items, possible relatives, etc. Primarily looking for document showing exact birthdate for Louis as well as his birthplace in Denmark. 1900 and 1910 Census yield different birth years.

I have an undated late 30-s History of Richland County which states that in 1878 "a Mr. BORGEN" established the Richland County Gazette and sold it later the same year.
Can you provide the name and perhaps other information about "Mr. BORGEN."?
During the 1870s my grandparents Otto BORGEN and Caroline Christopherson BORGEN, along with other BORGENs, left Wisconsin to homestead near Mooreton, DT. Otto had a general store in Mooreton and may have been the first or second postmaster. Died of TB in the middle 1890s, probably 1895.
The last BORGEN I know of to live in Richland County was Ben BORGEN, who died in Fargo about 20 years ago.

Today I found an archived Richland County query (February, 2000) from a Kathlene Lukasik seeking information about FIEBELKORN and WESTPHAL histories. I sent a response to the email address given for Kathlene in this archived query, but it was returned to me as "unknown user," so apparently she no longer uses that address.
I'm very interested in connecting with Kathlene, as I am a direct descendent of Mathilda FIEBELKORN / William WESTPHAL from the Hankinson area and would like genealogical information about them. If anyone has current contact information for Kathlene Lukasik, I'd really appreciate knowing how to reach her.
Thanks much!

According to some information. my paternal grandfather owned some land in Richland County. He must have purchase it sometime between 1897-l891. He sold it in 1891 before moving to Traill County some time in 1891, but at least by 1892. He and his wife, Ragnild (Ragna, Raghild, Ranghild - could even have been Gertrude), probably had a daughter born to them at that time. Her name was Ida. One sheet from the 1885 census has a Ragnild OLSON listed as a servant from Norway (67-004).
Any information you can send to me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Max WIPPERMANN and Henry WIPPERMANN
Andreas Max WIPPERMANN was born on February 14, 1868 in Mosel Township, Wisconsin to a family that included eleven children. From articles that appeared in the Bismarck Daily Tribune it is known that on October 31, 1898 he registered at a hotel in Wahpeton, ND.; an article on January noted the death of his wife – He is identified as Max WIPPERMANN the County Auditor; an article dated March 14, 1908 mentions his unsuccessful run for ND Governor; an article dated March 19, 1908 identifies him as the State Treasurer; and an article on December 19, 1910 identifies him as a well known merchant of Hankinson who had purchased five car-loads of chickens for $3,600 and resold them all to Thanksgiving customers.
Max’s first child Echo was born in 1989 to Max’s first wife who died in 1899. The 1900 US Census lists Echo, age 1 living in Chilton, WI with her grandmother and her Aunt Lena. The 1920 census lists Max, his (second) wife Angelina (nee SHIPE) and children Echo – age 14 (should be 21 or 22); Alva – age 18; Eleanor – age 14; and twins Max and Maxine – age 11.
Elk Creek Cemetery records contain the following “1920/10/27 - F/W/M - Heart Disease – C-1-1-3 – Max WIPPERMANN, Hankinson.” Max, the senior died in 1933 and his wife died in 1943. Max the younger died on July 25, 1989. However, a 1994 telephone directory lists a Max WIPPERMANN living in Hankinson.
During the first decade of the 19th century, Max’s brother Heinrich August WIPPERMANN, born April 11, 1866 in Mosel Township and known as Henry joined Max in Hankinson. US Census records indicated that both brothers were merchants/department store owners. A nephew of the brothers, Ernest Charles WIPPERMANN, a pharmacist joined the brothers for a short period of time before moving on to Salt Lake City. Henry and his wife Emma had two daughters, Ella born in 1892 in Wisconsin, married a civil engineer Ernest BUDGE lived in Arlington, VA, and died in Arlington in 1975; and Adeline born in 1896 in WI.
I would appreciate any additional information on Max and Henry WIPPERMANN and their families. The specific questions I have are the following,
(1) Who was Max WIPPERMANN’s first wife?
(2) Who is the WIPPERMANN buried in 1920 in the Elk Creek Cemetery?
(3) Who is the Hankinson, ND Max WIPPERMANN listed in a 1994 telephone directory?
Thanks in advance for any help, I am

My great-grandfather, J. R. (Joseph Ruffner) DAVENPORT was in Wahpeton, North Dakota, along with his brother Edwin Rush DAVENPORT who built the waterworks in that town. It was at some time between the years 1884 and 1893. The two of them were also responsible for the building of waterworks in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. I have a notebook in which my great-grandfather apparently listed the results of his water meter reading. He mentions such spots as Harris Laundry, Krupp Gem, Marsh House Hotel, Crawford Street, North and South Washington Streets and a courthouse. Does anyone recognize these names as belonging to Wahpeton?
