My grandfather Martin HANNESTAD came to Hatton from Norway in 1904 with his wife Oline. Alfred was there first born son. My understanding is that Martin was a musician, plus carpenter, and played in some group. I was wondering if anybody would have information on this. There is nobody in the family to now get this information. Thank you.

In search of information about Joseph W. BEATTEAY. He was last heard from by a letter written in September 15, 1903, General Delivery. Hatton, North Dakota. He wrote that he was working with a surveyor/civil engineer named Barrett and they were surveying for the Great Northern Railroad. BEATTEAY said that a large portion of land a little west was being opened for homesteaders and he wanted to get a quarter section 160 acres.
He was born 1882 in New Brunswick, Canada and lived in Massachusetts 1894-1902 before heading west.

In the book, "North Dakota, Every Town on the Map and More," by Vernell and Louise Johnson, there is a picture of large tombstone topped by a statue, with the name "ENGER" inscribed on the stone. The author says the photo was taken in Traill Co. near the town of Hatton. Does anyone have information on this family?

Seeking information on the family of Charles DAVIDSON who was born in Traill Co. on 11/18/1885. I have researched your 1900 census records except the last three townships. The census records you provide then became so small I could not read them on the screen. Could you please help me find my grandfathers family? thanks for any help you can provide. L. Stevens.

My relative Anton HUNDEBY lived near the Goose River in the 1880's. He married Anne JOHNSON from Hatton, supposedly a granddaughter of Tobiason. I can't find their marriage record. My grandfather, Martin GONVICK, writes of his visit to their farm in 1887 in his diary. Anton was an uncle of Martin GONVICK. When the last half of the family came to America in 1862 they came with "Aunt Ostmo". I believe that she is related to the OSTMO family in Traill Co. Anton came from Northwood, Iowa area before going to Dakota. On the 1900 census he is in Roseau County, Minn where I believe his wife died. Is this name familiar to anyone in the Traill Co Area?
Thank you Pam
