This is an update of my previous query regarding Ebenezer COBB. Here is what I now know: Ebenezer COBB, M. Sarah HANSCOM Jan 8, 1782 in Gorham, ME. Ebenezer and Sarah moved to Saratoga Co., NY. In 1806 they had three of their children baptised at Christ Church in Ballston Spa. -- Augustus, b. Sep 27, 1797; Uriah S., b. Sep 3, 1799 and Ann R., b. Feb 6, 1803. (Uriah is my g/g/grandfather and married Elizabeth (Betsey) BUSH daughter of Jacobus Henrick BUSH and Hannah FORDUN.... Sometime between 1810 and 1820 Jacobus moved to Solon... In the 1820 Census he had a daughter and son 10-16, a son under 10 and a daughter 16-26 (this is Ann R.). Sometime after the 1820 Census Ebenezer and Sarah moved back to ME... Sarah died shortly thereafter and in 1824 Ebenezer married Mary LARABEE and had two more sons, Isaac, b. Apr 28, 1825 and Moses, b. Mar 26, 1827. If anyone has information relative to the son and daughter (ages 10-16) and the son (under 10) who show up in the 1820 Solon Census I would much appreciate hearing from you. My greatfather Horatio EVANS / EVENS -1835 came from Freetown / Marathon. His parents were Elisha EVANS / EVENS b. 1808/09 and married Emily? b. 1810. They are on the 1830 and 1840 census in Marathon. They had 4 children: Louisa b. 1830, Cordelia b. 1833, Horatio b. 1835 and Irvin b. 1840. By the mid 1840's they moved to the Town of Lee in Oneida county. I find the last name spelled both ways. I would like to know who Emily was and both of their parents.

CONGER - BATES - COON

Ted Bates Mon Oct 25 11:28:45 2004
I have early family of Homer, Cortland County, N.Y. whose surname was CONGER. My 3d g. aunt, named Zerue"Ruby" BATES, married a William CONGER during the period 1840-1850, possibly in Cortland County, New York. They had 2 known children: Christopher CONGER b. 1849, and a daughter Persis born 1846. Persis married a Luke COON and later moved to Buffalo. Christopher was a shoemaker and moved about 1872 to Parma, Jackson County, Michigan. I have absolutely nothing for William CONGER, his marriage to my 3d g. aunt or if they divorced or he died early.
Any info would be helpful. Ted Bates in Fort Wayne, In

WINCHELL - WILKINS - MAHER - CORCORAN

Anne Ruggeri Sat Nov 27 19:31:38 2004
I am researching the CORCORAN family, WINCHELL family & MAHER family (and WILKINS family) that lived in Cortland in the late 1800's and mid 1900's or later. I'm not sure if anyone is still around or not.

Ann McKenna CORCORAN (widow of Patrick, moved from Orville, NY (near Dewitt now... close to Syracuse) and ran a Boarding House at 58 E. Court Street in Cortland.

Children were:
John H., James, Willie (or William, who moved to Seattle, WA & is buried out there), Mary E. ( CORCORAN) MAHER (Mrs. William F MAHER, Jane (Jennie), and Hugh.

The MAHER's had a daughter Eileen, who married Carl A. WINCHELL.
The WINCHELL's had a daughter Marie Antoinette Winchell WILKINS.

Things I'm interested in learning...
1. Is there an online Cemetery list for Cortland Rural Cemetery? The Winchell's appear to be buried there.
2. Is there an online Cemetery list for St. Mary's Cemetery in Cortland? I think the MAHER's are probably buried there.
3. I am interested in dates of deaths, so I can then try to see if I can obtain obits for them, and any other information on their life.

Thanks for leading me in the correct direction to find things on this family.

BURT - WRIGHT

Gloria Farrell Sun Nov 28 12:41:32 2004
Phineas Allen BURT, b. Apr. 26, 1807 and Mary Jane (possibly) WRIGHT. b. March 25, 1814 had their first five children in Groton (Pension Records shows Groton for 2 of the boys); David Frank, b.abt. 1832; Charlotte Melvina, b. 1834; William R., b. 1835; George Washington, Mar. 3, 1838 (my ggrandfather); Maria Sarah, b. 1840, before moving onto Allegany County in 1840, then Cattarugus in 1850 and onto Brown Co. Wisconsin in 1862.

I think Mary Jane (Polly) may have been born in Tompkins County. Don't know for sure what her last name is, think maybe one of their grandson's Lucien "Wright" BURT may have been named after her. I think Phineas and Polly may have been married in the Groton area also about 1831. Don't know where in NY Phineas was born, but he says his parents were born in NY also.

Please contact me if you have any information on these families. Thanks!
