"The Glen"
Jerry Jones Tue Jan 4 13:09:44 2005
I'm doing research on Unadilla Forks which borders Madison County along the West Branch of the Unadilla River north of Leonardsville. From about 1850-1870 there was a manufacturing facility at a place called "The Glen". This facility is believed to have been built on the West Branch of the Unadilla River. It manufactured hoes. forks, and rakes and I was wondering if its exact location could be pin-pointed. I believe that it was located about a quarter mile north of Unadilla Forks but would like confirmation. From old maps of that time, I know there was a road connecting Hackely Street (north route out of Unadilla Forks) with route 8 in Madison County. It used to cross the West Branch of the Unadilla River. I believe the Glen was located there. The West Branch forms the boundry between Madison and Otsego counties.

I am looking for some direction from those familiar with Madison Co. I am trying to locate the William THOMSON family. I believe William came without his family sometime between 1836-1840. His wife and children joined him in Dec. 1841. The family left Madison Co. about 1846, eventually settling in Columbia Co. WI about 1847-8. The family names are Jane, William's wife and children Edgar, Naamah, Emily, Edwin, Mary Jane, William, Lucy, George. Sons Jonathan and Isaac were born in Madison in 1843 and 1846. They may have resided in or near Cazenovia. Edgar remained behind at the Poor Farm when they moved.

I'm looking for any descendants of Michael J. DUNN bn. abt. Nov. 1857 in N.Y. His parents were John DUNN of Ireland bn. abt. 1827 and Lidia of England bn. abt. 1832.
Michael married Elizabeth bn. July 1857 in N.Y. Their children were:
Lidia A. bn. Nov. 1882 (probably named for his mother)
Frank son bn. Sept. 1884
Mary, daughter bn. June 1887
John bn. Appr. 1889
Leo bn. Feb. 1893
Margaret bn. June 1899
He lived on Broad St. in Oneida the same St.. his mother lived with his siblings in 1870 census. She had married a Wm. J. KNOWLES. Lidia, I am told died in the early 1870's. Michael named his children after his siblings Frank, Mary, John and Margaret.
Hopefully, if there are any surviving descendants of this family I am eager to hear from them. There are still many unanswered questions in my progress with Michael's mother Lidia... as to her parents, and when she died and where she was buried. She was my husband's G. Grandmother.
Anyone have any info on them, please write. I know the number of DUNNs in New York make it difficult to trace the family but since I have been able to advance two generations it gives me hope.
Thanks for any help.
Phyllis

I am looking for someone who would look up an obit for me. The person that I'm researching is George W. HIBBERT who died 25 January 1928 in Fenner, Madison County, NY. I am willing to pay a small fee for this service. According to information I received from another researcher the Madison County Historical Society has bound volumes of newspapers from 1854 - 1969 so if there was an obit for George W. HIBBERT it should be in those volumes. I do have a death certificate number so I know he died in Fenner. Thank you. Faye Lawes

We have looked in vain over the last ten yeas for any data on a Rachel KIBBEE, born in NY in 1798 or 1797, we have traced down every KIBBEE we could find. We do know that Rachel married Chauncey BESTOR in about 1820 either in Oneida and Herkimer county and they had three children in NY, Daniel, Martha and Mary. Chauncey was a fifer in the War of 1812, we have traced them all through Wisconsin and have all the data since they left NY. We would love to know the parents of Rachel KIBBEE and also marriage data on their son Daniel to Sarah HUMPHREY in about 1824 someplace in NY. Thank you for any piece of data.
