In answer to posting by Kathy Pearson on Tuesday October 19, 1999. Kathy, I believe that your Sally TIFFANY and Hiram JEWELL had a son named either Hiram Flavel or Flavel Hiram JEWELL. I found Hiram F. JEWELL, born in New York, listed in the 1870 census for Oshkosh, Wisconsin, 4th Ward, page 41-335. His wife is listed as Zoa, born in Canada. They had two children: Horace F., age 8, born in New York, and Louisa M., age 4, born in Wisconsin. The 1880 census index, online at Family History Library, Salt Lake, lists H. F. JEWELL, married to Zoe A. with 3 children: Horace F. age 18, May L. age 13, and Emma Alice, age 9. H.F.'s father born in Connecticut, H.F. born in New York. Does this sound like descendants of the family you are looking for?

I am researching Rodman SPENCER family who came to Smithfield, Madison County about 1804 and lived there until they both died. I am looking for Abigail's maiden name and here are the children they had. William, Joseph, Jacob, John, Susannah, Phebe, Sally, and Elizabeth.
My line from Rodman and Abigail follows their son John SPENCER who died in Smithfield July 03, 1840. He was married to Polly ? and had at lest eight children but so far I have only found four of them, Perry R., Miranda, Mary Irene, and John Jerome. I am looking for a marriage date and maiden name of Polly ?
I would like to know if there is anyone else who is researching this SPENCER line that was in Madison County from about 1804 to 1870 or later. I know that Rodman, his son John and wife Abigail and Polly are all buried in the Gill Farm Cemetery along with son Jacob and his wife.
Rodman was the son of Theophilus and Elizabeth (MATTESON) SPENCER of Dutchess County. This SPENCER line orginated in Rhode Island.
I also know that Perry married Adelia SMITH from Mexico, Oswego Co., NY and Miranda married S. Perry SMITH of Fenner and John Jerome married Sophronia BURLISON of Parish, Oswego and died in 1867 from injuries during the Civil War. I don't know what happened to Mary Irene. Perry and Adelia moved with their family to Tama County, Iowa in 1867 where they lived out their lives. They both died a week apart in Poseshiek County, Iowa in January 1896.

George is perhaps 20 to 25 years of age in the photo - my guess. I'd be happy to share the photo with anyone who would like it. Thanks Mark
