Condition of 1855 State Census Film
In most cases the micro film was of good condition and fairly legible. However, it was made from an open book photo of two pages and in many cases the rightmost script on the right page was unreadable. The illegible portion usally involved the first name or initials. Many of these difficulties were resolved by comparing the readable portions of the name with known data from the 1850 Federal Censusus and the history book mentioned above.
