John Hamilton Wright Tue Feb 3 22:01:38 1998
Searching for any information on the Wright or Hamilton families of Richland County during the second half of the 1800s. Irving or Irvine J. Wright was a Unitarian minister, who came to the Richland area before the Civil War. Previously he lived in Greenville TN and was close to Andrew Johnson, 17th President of the U.S..His son's death certificate shows I. J. was originally born in Philidelphia. Word has it that he married 3 daugthers of an A. Miller of Greenville, as each past away. A death certificate gives only the last name of Miller for I. J.'s wife. In 1858 a son was born in Richland named John Calvin Wright. John married Rose Hamilton. They lived in Excelsior WI. My father, Hamilton William Wright, was born in Excelsior in 1904. Other Wright children born here were John Jesse b. 1894, Kathleen, Grace b. 1898, Mary, Bay and Richard b. 1908 Wright. John Calvin went to Rush Medical School and became a doctor. He moved his large family to Antigo WI, where they lived the rest of their lives. I have not been able to find any connection between this family and the William Cary Wright father of Frank Lloyd Wright, although they lived in Richland during the same period. The relationship may be why FLW's father originally came to the Richland area.
