GERRITY - ADNEY - GORMAN - McNALLY - HAMMEL

Walton J. Sullivan Tue Jul 10 07:36:46 2001
My gggrandfather James GERRITY b c 1820 m Mary GORMAN and settled in the Richland Center area. It appears when he came to Wisconsin from Ireland there were already many GERATY relatives there. 1860 Crawford Co census indicates James was a farmer. James was killed abt 1863. His daughter Mary GERRITY married Daniel ADNEY b 1838 in Blue River, WI. Daniel and Mary (GERRITY) ADNEY raised a large family in Wisconsin. Mary (GORMAN) GERRITY and some of her children moved to Carbondale, Scranton areas of Pennsylvania. It also appears that there were quite a few GORMAN in Wisconsin related to the GERRITY-GORMAN line. Many of the GORMAN folks also moved to the Carbondale, Scranton areas of PA. One of the cousins was Msgr Walter A. GORMAN. After James GERRITY was killed Mary GORMAN GERRITY married a HAMMEL. Mary's mother was Mary Mc NALLY.

Looking for any information on the above lines. Please email me at wsullivw@aol.com

BLAKE - AMBROSE

Mamie Kroning Wed Jul 25 10:42:54 2001
My great great great Grandmother and Grandmother, Simon BLAKE and Mary (AMBROSE) BLAKE are buried in Oak Ridge cemetery. While at my brother, Joe HALVERSON's home for a wedding of his daughter, I decided to find the grave. While comparing the maps for his home and the cemetery, I discoved they both to be on Oak Ridge Road, near the town on Orion. To my surprize, a small cemetery was located on the edge of his property. The gravestones were in shambles and I was unable to read the inscriptions on them. Was I in the correct place? After all these years is it really possible that my brother actually now owns the land that his Great Great Great Grandparents are buried on? He constructed a new home and has lived at this address for about one year. I noticed there to be 5 headstones. Are you able to tell me if this is Oak Ridge cemetery on this property and if so, who lies beneath the 5 headstones, other than Simon and Mary BLAKE? I know they had lost 2 children in infancy and am also wondering if this could be their graves? Please let me know asap, as I am putting together a family history and have been in total awe to think that what I feel to be true is really so. Thank you for your help. Mamie Kroning

DEDERICH

Sue Schafer Sat Sep 15 17:14:19 2001
I am looking for my great grandfather's sister and brother-in-law. Their names are Anton and Marie DEDERICH. I have letters from them written in the 1870's indicating they lived in Bear Valley, WI. They had a daughter named Margarethe. I have letters from her too which indicate the names of other DEDERICHs: Peter, Adolf and Tony. I know that Anton originally moved to Dane County when he came from Germany and later moved to Bear Valley. I don't have any of the exact dates. Could someone check census records for these folks? I should add that a relative (possibly a daughter of Margarethe DEDERICH) married into the SCHMITZ family which operated the Bear Valley Creamery. I have many old letters from the SCHMITZ family. I don't see any indications that the Creamery still exists.
Thank you, Sue from Seattle

GROSHONG

Mary Sue Fickes Thu Nov 29 14:56:00 2001
I am researching my Granmother's GROSHONG family line. Her grandfather was Ansel GROSHONG. He was married in Canada in the mid 1800's. He married Cynthia Anna NIDA . They lived in Bluffton, OH where many of their 9 children were born. they later moved to Crow Wing County MN where they lived til Ansel's death before 1896.

After Ansel died Cynthia Anna NIDA married a Robert Monroe GROSHONG in Crow Wing County,Minnesota. I'm thinking this might have been Ansel's brother. Robert was born March 15, 1860 in Iowa. That would have made him about 10 years younger than Ansel. Robert and Cynthia Anna moved to Richland County Wisconsin after they married in Crow Wing Ct. MN.

I'm thinking Ansel and Robert were brothers because Ansel had two sons by the names of Robert and Monroe. I also noticed an Andrew J. GROSHONG and a Iona Ruth GROSHONG that lived in Richland County Wisconsin. Are they related to Robert Monroe?

If anyone has information on Robert or Ansel GROSHONG that would help me it would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely, Mary Sue Fickes
